Our Story
Splintered Forest was founded in 2004 by Brad Huddleston, a longtime Conifer resident and local entrepreneur who learned about the importance of fire mitigation firsthand after he lost his family home in the Hi Meadow Forest Fire in 2000. The 12,000 acre blaze left a path of destruction in Jefferson County (and parts of Park County) and his property covered with burnt trees/slash. When it came time to clear the debris and start the rebuilding process, there was no affordable help so Brad set out and began the arduous task of removing the trees himself. Soon after, he began assisting neighbors with their tree removal needs and a business was formed. The first employees recruited? Kayla and Kara, his sisters, who are still an integral part of running the administrative operations of Splintered Forest today!
