Splintered Forest Bid Addendum
Thank you for choosing Splintered Forest as your tree service provider. We welcome the chance to work with you and appreciate you taking the time to read this addendum in its entirety. By Contracting Tree Services with Splintered Forest, or other services you agree to the following terms and conditions:
At the Time of Bid
- Accurately describe and define your property boundaries to the estimator and verify that the bid/stated boundary only covers work on your property. Splintered Forest does not survey properties nor do we accept any liability for work completed at the request of the homeowner that is not on their property.
- Notify Splintered Forest of any potential areas of concern within the work area such as invisible fences, well heads, leech fields, septic tanks, flower beds, etc.
- Provide any inspection reports detailing mitigation required by the County or insurance agents (if applicable).
- Provide any gate codes or lockbox keys needed to gain access to the property.
- While Work Is Being Performed
- Keep the driveway/access road clear while the crew is on site. Moving equipment around is time consuming and costly (additional fees may apply for rigs that need to be moved).
- Keep all pets/livestock out of the work area.
- Remove all fragile and valuable items in the work area or make the Foreman aware of any immovable objects during the walk around.
- Do NOT approach work zone or active workers without first making your presence known and acknowledged by a Splintered Forest crew member both visually and verbally.
- Do NOT attempt to help the crew with items on your bid unless given explicit permission to do so. This is for your safety as well as the safety of the crew.
- DO alert us of any changes you wish to make to your bid 48-hours prior to your scheduled date. Adjustments made within this time frame may constitute a $500 change fee.
Scheduling & Post Work
- Provide any gate codes or lockbox keys needed to gain access to the property.
- The work site must remain in the same condition as it was during the time of the bid. Any changes made to the site must be conveyed to the Splintered Forest team 48-hours prior to arrival and may constitute additional charges or prohibit the job from being completed resulting in a cancellation fee. Examples of changes include:
- Addition of a fence
- Items such as a roll off, vehicle, etc blocking access to the driveway, roadway, sidewalk, side yard, etc
- Cancellation Policy: Splintered Forest reserves the right to charge a fee in the amount of $500 or 10% of the job (whichever is greater) if a project is cancelled after a contract has been signed
- Late Payment: Payment is due upon completion of the job (a seven-day grace period is allotted). Late payments are subject to a $50 fee plus 5% interest per month thereafter.
- Unpaid Invoices: Any invoice that remains unpaid after 30 days may be sent to collections/a mechanics lien may be filed. The client is responsible for all associated fees in addition to the original invoiced amount.
- Subcontractors: Splintered Forest may utilize subcontractor(s) for any (or all) portion of the agreed upon work. All correspondence and payments will be done with Splintered Forest. All subcontractors have all appropriate licenses and insurance.
Terminology Addressed in Estimates
- Chipped Debris: This is the material that is sent through the chipper and creates mulch. If you do not wish to purchase the haul away option, all debris must be broadcasted back on site in an area where our operations are staged and easily accessible by a truck and chipper.
- Stump Grinding: FOR ANY STUMP GRINDING, THE HOMEOWNER WILL NEED TO CONTACT 8-1-1 TO LOCATE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. All stumps are treated as a separate project from the tree removal process and are generally denoted on your bid. If stump grinding is not noted it is not included. If you wish to have stumps ground please notify a Splintered Forest estimator at the time of bid. Stump grinding includes the grinding of the stump ONLY and grindings are left to fill in the hole unless otherwise noted on your bid (this will include an extra charge). No roots will be ground and all rocks larger than a small pebble (roughly 1”) will need to be removed by the homeowner unless otherwise noted in your bid. If Splintered Forest determines that a fence must be removed for access purposes this will be the responsibility of the homeowner unless otherwise noted in the bid. Splintered Forest is not responsible for any damage to the fence by the removal or reconstruction of the fence. Splintered Forest encourages all homeowners to contract this service to a licensed contractor.
- Firewood: Firewood is created from the trees that are being removed from the property. We remove the limbs and cut them into either 4-6’ sections or stove length 16-18” sections (for an additional fee) and stage them at a location to be decided at the time of estimate.
- Property Boundaries: Splintered Forest is not a survey company, we rely on the information provided by the homeowner. If any portion of the work area is not on your property you must inform Splintered Forest prior to our arrival as this may affect the final bill.
- Equipment Disclaimer: We often use large and small equipment to transport material that will likely leave drag/track paths. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to notify Splintered Forest at the time of the estimate of any sensitive areas (leech fields, gardens, etc.) to avoid.
