Our experienced crew can remove your trees, even ones close to your home.

There are many reasons why a tree should be removed from your property, but it can be a complex process that should be left to a trained professional.  Trees near houses or other structures are some of the most hazardous removals and a situation where precision/accuracy is imperative.

Whether you are looking to have a tree removed that is posing a threat or simply for aesthetic purposes, the crew at Splintered Forest has industry leading equipment and the experience to safely and efficiently remove any tree.  Splintered Forest is fully insured for in the event of any property damage occurring, has a valid workmen’s compensation policy in the unlikely event of an accident and carries all the required licensing.

There are many reasons why a tree should be removed.  Some reasons include the tree:

In some cases, postponing the removal of a tree can be risky.  A tree can spread diseases and infestations to other trees/plants; dead or dying trees are a liability if they fall or lose a limb; it can be a violation of municipal or homeowners association codes and it can have a negative impact on property values.

There are many factors that can make it difficult and/or dangerous to remove a tree utilizing traditional removal methods including a tight working space, no drop zones, extreme tree decay or power lines known as Close Structure Tree Removal. To help safely and efficiently complete these removals, Splintered Forest has two in-house knuckle boom cranes and operators certified with the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) to complete the job.

There are many benefits to utilizing a crane on your next tree removal project, including:

There are times when a knuckle boom crane isn’t the ideal way to complete the tree removal such as a tree with extremely limited access. In these situations, Splintered Forest has experienced tree climbers and expert fellers on the crew to safely remove any tree from your property.

When assessing a tree there are a few key signs and symptoms to look for. Taking all of these factors into account along with location, age of the tree, and size will assist you and your arborist in determining what to do next:

  • Look for damaged branches or cracks in the trunk/stems.
  • Assess for pests and damage caused by them.
  • Consider removing trees with codominant stems that have a history of breakage, (codominant stems are weak attachments and very likely to split).
  • Recently damaged roots or trees near road work are likely to have root systems that are compromised which can lead to upheaving.

There are many factors that are considered when determining the cost of a tree removal project.  These factors include:

  • The size of the tree, which may often be referred to as diameter at breast height (DBH).
  • How close the tree is to a home or any other structure.
  • The proximity of the tree to hazards such as power lines.
  • The overall health of the tree and potential weaknesses in the tree.
  • Accessibility of the tree and ability for machinery to reach the tree.

At Splintered Forest, we always provide a free, no obligation estimate for your tree removal projects.  In some cases, these estimates can also be provided virtually by supplying our estimators with photos/videos of the tree.  Contact a member of our team today to learn more!

There are many individuals and companies to choose from when it comes to hiring a tree contractor for your next project.  When making hiring decisions, it is important to take some things into consideration.

According to the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA):

  • Check to make sure they have International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborists on Staff.
  • Ask to see a current Certificate of Insurance and a valid workmen’s compensation policy.
  • Always ask for references from previous clients and/or check their online reviews on platforms such as Google, Yelp and Facebook.
  • Don’t be rushed by a bargain price, get a written estimate and don’t pay for the service in advance.
  • Get a signed contract.
  • Ask about ANSI Standards – a professional arborist will know and abide by these standards.
  • Be adamant that spikes are not to be used by climbers except if the tree is being removed.
  • Consider hiring a TCIA Accredited company (a voluntary program that credentials tree companies and aims to safeguard consumers).

Splintered Forest did a great job removing 2 very large trees in my backyard. They were very efficient and had the trees removed in 1/2 a day - which is probably due to the fact they had some amazing equipment (crane, trucks, etc.).

This is a great company! ... They were quick to provide a clearly stated bid, then followed up with scheduling. When an opening occurred ahead of our scheduled date, they reached out to complete our job earlier. On-site they were professional and meticulous, working with high energy and real skill. It was a real pleasure to work with Splintered Forest. They are our new "go to" for any tree work.
